Painting and Drawing day

Took my students out today to a National Trust area for our regular Thursday morning art class. Drawing and painting outside of the studio is essential to the development of awareness of colours, textures, form, and space. When I say space I mean how much space do things occupy, and how much space there is between objects. Working from photographic resources is OK when the sun is not shining and it's raining. But photographs don't give you the feel and measure of space, that is something you have experience in order to appreciate.

The students worked on different subjects, we had a lovely coffee and we were asked to try a new cake and the the cafe staff what we thought of it. Of course the cake was lovely and none was left on the plate!
